MARO PRAPANCHAM - A Telugu Short Film Review

MARO PRAPANCHAM means ANOTHER WORLD. Well this independent short film runs for 45mins and 51secs, but the best part you won't even know the numbers while watching this film. It really carries you to the so called MARO PRAPANCHAM.

This short film will surely be a learning film for many of those aspirant film makers in all departments and also short film makers.

My Review by Sashank K:

Short Review:  Don't miss this short film for anything in the world. Maro Prapancham is surely one of the best short films that I have personally come across in Telugu for a long time which has touched the sensitive part for any one which is the "HUMAN EMOTIONS". A short film which will take you on an emotional coaster ride. The film surely shows how hard the whole team have worked hard from story telling to acting to cinematography to editing and direction. I never felt that this was a film and was involved as if I was watching a real story live. CONGRATULATIONS to the whole team of Maro Prapancham and Kudos to the director Bharat Kamma to bring the whole group together and make this masterpiece.

I am still giving it 4.5 instead of 5, as I feel that my 100% attention was not grabbed. But, we don't have many films that can grab even 90% attention so here it is enjoy watching it.

Star Rating (4.5 out of 5.0):

Detailed Review:

Story and Screenplay: Screenplay was really perfect which will not make you feel that you are watching a story, you will surely feel that it is a real event happening right in-front of your eyes. Smooth not too violent with violence and emotion as the main track of the film. In short it is a story about contract killing and then the result bouncing back.

Director: Bharat Kamma has proved practically through this film that he not only has a great imagination, but also a great direction skills. His direction is the main reason behind the smooth story telling and he did utilize the actors to their best, which is least concentrated these days. He has surely worked at at every department with each person to get what he imagined and has succeeded, it also reflects in his film Maro Prapancham.

Actors: Dayaa K (Nandhi), Vamsi Pada Kandla (Mani), Ram Krishna Mutyala (David) and Murali Basa (Bully) playing the lead roles as the contract killer and equally competitive to the the child artist who played the lead role was Baby Annie (Rani), who played as the girl who lost her father killed by these contract killers. All of them really acted naturally and their acting did prove to be one of the strongest points for Maro Prapancham and the film wouldn't have been the same without their skills. All the actors Swetha (Nandhi's Sister), Siraj (Young Nandhi), Jagadeeswari (Hotel Owner), Madhavi (Teacher), Srikanth Sakhamuri (Rani's Father) and Praveen Bhangari (Mediator) also did an equally great job to balance the whole film of Maro Prapancham.

Dialogues: Many people don't understand the importance of dialogues in a film and its weight for the film. Without any doubt for Maro Prapncham Ravi Reddy Mallu's dialogues are a strong point.

Editing / Digital Grading: Sreejith Sarang, being the responsible person for editing and digital grading has done an excellent job to make us feel attracted with the visuals of Maro Prapancham and make us sit and feel that it was all happening in a different world. The perfection can be felt with the connection we will have with the video all through this film.

Music: Excellent music by Justin Prabhakaran. There are films in where the music plays the front role and then there are films where the visuals play the front role. Clearly the music in Maro Prapancham has given a great push for the visuals to stand strong in the front side. The soothing music though playing in the background, without it the visuals wouldn't have got the same importance.

Cinematography: Sujith Sarang, has repeatedly proved time again and again why his taking makes the visuals so rich. His skills as a cinematographer for Maro Prapancham also played a major role in giving each shot and visuals its importance. Though the story looked very natural I am sure there was a lot of hard shots which Sujith had worked really hard to take them and reach the Director Bharat's expectations. His hard work is what made us feel comfortable and easy and real to make this film Maro Prapancham really a film from another world.

Other Team Members: There are always many others who work hard for a film to be what it is. Excellent job done by all the other departments like lighting, musicians and all others without whom I am sure Maro Prapancham wouldn't be what it finally turned out to be.
Congratulation to the whole team of MARO PRAPANCHAM

THU NEE BATHUKU - A Telugu Short Film by Harish Naga

THU NEE BATHUKU - A Telugu Short Film by Harish Naga

review by sashank k powered by iMovie Junction iMoviejunction i Movie Junction

Thu nee bathuku is a short film by Harish Naga, who had played some important roles in the making of many short films in the past and I am sure he will continue to do the same in the future as well.

The short film is dedicated to all the people who have gone through a bad break up and think of committing suicide. The story stands on a simple but a stronger line, which is that people who think of committing of a suicide because of a break-up in their life, give 1000s of reasons but don't give a thought of at least one reason why they can live happily. There was a song also shot for this short film for which the lyrics about how just one reason can take you to your dream than to commit suicide.

My Review by Sashank K:

Short Review: A good short film with a strong message potrayed in a simple and easy to understand way. Can surely watch and share. The only minus for me were the lipsyncing in the crying scene and one other place.

Star Rating (3.5 out 5.0):

Detailed Review:

Story and Plot: Story initially had reminded me of a scene from a Telugu feature film "Potugadu". But, half way through I forgot about it as the it was portrayed really well. Climax of the film was also really good.

Director: As a director Harish Naga has really done a great job, he did show his skills as a director and also has done very good homework before completing the short film due to which the output of the short film has come really good. There were one or two shots were I slightly felt the lipsyncing. So, if those would have been fixed then it would have been 100% perfect.

Actors: There are only two characters in this whole short film of the 13 minutes and 58 seconds of the film and one unseen character. The two characters played by Nikhil Heerekar (The guy who is about to commit suicide) and the other played by Rakendu Mouli Vennelakanti (The guy is there to support the suicide and more). They both did a good job with their acting, but for me Rakendu Mouli did steal the show with his extraordinary acting and comedy in the whole short film.

Editing: Krishna Ramishetty as an editor really showed great work.

Cinematography: Rocky Vanamali was the one who completely made me get involved with his excellent cinematography skills. Excellent job with the moving shots. Sunil Kumar who had done the cinematography of the song had also really done a great job, very good lighting by Srinu to support the cinematographers.

Music: Karthik Ganesh had provided really good music and a great composition of the song, good lyrics by the director Harish Naga himself. _________________________________________________________________

VADADEBBA - A Telugu Short Film by Sai Vardhan

VADADEBBA - A Short Film by Sai Vardhan

featured-1

My Review

A telugu comedy short film with a blend of few comical characters, jokes, background music with expressions. Vadadebba, a title well explained in the short film. The story is about a playboy hero who has a girlfriend but still keeps looking out for girls, in the process he gets slapped and every time he does he tells that he had a hot Vada just now. The story goes on, not to ruin the story I wouldn't talk much more about it. The lead character was played by "Rajesh" who played the role good, but needed more to be done as some places it was clear that visually he was not stressing on a few words but the dubbing was, which made it feel not in sync. The comedy role was played by "Suri K Chaplin" who could have done better than what he did, but I think the credit should go to him and the director could have utilized him more. The lead heroine had acted really well but in her entry for sometime it was really clear that she was feeling the shyness of the presence of camera. The second heroine who enters in the climax had acted well as well but unfortunately had only one expression from beginning to the end, she should work a little bit more on her acting with the help of the director. Now coming to the director "Sai Vardhan", who though is a good friend of mine but still got to be fair, had tried to make a comedy short film but felt should have worked a little bit more in the production part and also the dialogues. As it seems that in a few places the dialogue while shooting and while post production were different or no proper lip-syncing. Should have got the best out of the actors as I felt that it was meant to be satirical comedy but didn't end as expected. Cinematographer Vijay Kumar SVK, had done a great job kudos to him and all the support to him. Editing was well done by "Sai Vardhan".

Overall not a short film that you might feel bad to miss. But if you still want to see the short film for its comedy there is nothing to loose. Sai Vardhan tried to share a comedy film wont say he had done his best yet, will surely wait for his next one and I am sure he had seen all of this after everything was ready before release. Just because it was not given 100%, my rating would be a bit low.

Prayathnam - A Short Film by Sooryah Prakash

Prayathnam - A Short Film by Sooryah Prakash

My Review

A short film just to pass a message to all the students and lectures in the industry of education about the style in which we are taught these days. Too short but a huge message was passed in this short film. The main conversation or the feel or even the meaning to the short film comes just in the climax as a conversation between a student role played by "Venkatesh" and the Teacher role played by "Kiran Kumar Kandregula". Frankly the acting skills were not up to the mark by anyone, so the blame will go the director for that, unfortunately it is the same director as the satirical comedy PAPA JUMP, Sooryah Prakash. There was surely a deep meaning in the message but I am not sure how many will remember after time passes. Editing by Santosh and Suresh Kosuru was good. Background score was also good and good mix of audio by Raja Tabla.

Overall not a short film that you might feel bad to miss. But you still want to see the short film for its message there is nothing to loose. Sooryah tried to show something big from this small concept but something did go wrong somewhere due to which I wouldn't rate it much.

RRR (Run Raja Run) - A Short Film by Sujeeth Sign

RRR (Run Raja Run) - A Short Film by Sujeeth Sign

featured-3

  My Review

A 100% commercial short film. This is a story about a mobile thief "Run Raja" played by Santhosh Samrat his friend "Run Raja Baava" played by one of the  comedians in the telugu film industry Shankar, they steal girls phones and sell it back to the guys who want to make a relation with these girls, in this process he meets the girl of his life when he gets an offer to steal her ("Priya" played by Avanthisha Singh) phone. The role of the police officer AGNI was played by Harish, the narrator for this film was played by another comedian from the telugu industry Chanti and finally though a small role but another well known actor from many of Sujeeth Sign's films is Nikhil who plays the role of a kidnapper. Well now to talk about each department acting by Santhosh Samrat, Harish, Shankar were all good. Chanti had done a great job not just a narrator but the style in which he acts and speaks made it even more interesting to watch him. The heroine Avanthisha Singh did a fair job, just like in commercial movies heroine though has a bigger role to carry has less to act, but still she did justice to her role. To tell about cinematographer Karteek Sivagouni it wont be enough if I use the word commendable or awesome or great, I want to look for a better word than that. Editing was done really good by Sujeeth and his experience did show in his work as editor, as a director also he has done a commendable job and again his experience spoke for him in the form of this short film. Coming to the story, though the way it had started made me feel it was a new concept as it went on I realised that it was the same old wine just poured in a new bottle, It might have been better if Sujeeth with his great experience and skills could either right new stories or choose better stories to direct. I am waiting to watch a film or a short film by him which doesnt fall under the romance or comedy genres.

Overall a may be watch film, you wont miss the world if you miss this short film but good learning skills for cinematographers, editors and also comedy actors. A routine 3 hour romantic comedy film made into a 29 min short film, still got bored in a few places. My rating would be less only for the story.

Viswamantha Prema - A Telugu Short Film by Harsha Annavarapu

Viswamantha Prema - A Short Film by Harsha Annavarapu

My Review

Here comes a commercial love story short film. Well the story runs around a young college boy "MANU" played by Manohar Manu and the college girl played by Anusha, well Harsha also tried showing life from the love between them to the lie to the parents, from life to death and again from death to life. There was one comedy track set in between the story just like in feature films where the comedy characters have nothing to do with the main story or even with the main characters. The cinematography was really good, direction was also good. The let down was the overall story, it got a little dragging at places. If the actors can put a little more effort I am sure they can reach heights, the director Harsha Annavarapu should have worked with them once for the best results.  Editing was really worth appreciating. Good song, great BGM and good use of the song. This short film looked more as if Harsha Annavarapu tried showing this as his demo film to enter the world of film making and work as a director for commercial projects. Many of his previous short films were really great, talented and stood out even story wise.

Overall, a 100% commercial short film, something I don't prefer to see in short films as we have enough feature films releasing with that aspect. Not a short film that you will feel bad even if you miss it.

Initiation - A Telugu Short Film by Subash Chandra - Mr. Productions

My Review

Another message oriented film by Subash Chandra from MR.Productions and his team. This short film is just a scenario, but not a complete story, just like many of the short films by MR.Productions. It is a discussion between two friends, one friend played by Hemanth Varma who is not interested and is unhappily accepting the way nation is working and the other friend played by Anvesh Chowdary G, who has a goal to change the nation starting from himself and his family. A V6 female news reporter played by Rathna Chowdary enters in between their conversation, I think it was done to create a stronger conversation between these friends with a spark that lights up in Anvesh's mind by the question asked by her. I feel that the end dialogue is one of the best ways to end the short film "ee desham parai vadidhi kaadu, mana desham". Good direction Subash Chandra, good dialogues by Bharat Kumar, cinematography well had some glitches with the quality but camera angles and movement were all good. Great acting by Anvesh Chowdary and good support by Hemanth Varma, Rathna Chowdary did good for her role. Anvesh Chowdary stole the show for me with his acting.

Overall can watch once for sure. Unfortunately the same issue I have all the message oriented short films, will this message stick in everybody's mind forever, I don't think so. Didn't feel a wow factor so rating is less, just felt another good short film thats all.

Medicine - A Silent Short Film by Shiva

Medicine - A Silent Short Film by Shiva

My Review

A nice message oriented short film by the director Shiva. There is very less to say about this short film as there is a lot feel in it. A good way to represent the free medicine provided to human by GOD. Mahesh Kumar did show good skills in his acting. Technically the lighting in a few shots were not looking natural, other than that there weren't much negatives that could be pinned on. But there is always one question on my mind will this short film make a difference in everybody life and will the message stick to their minds forever? Well I don't think this is that kind of short film but it will surely bring a change in atleast a few peoples lives.

Overall a good one to watch with a straight forward message, presented in a good way.

Zero - An experminetal futuristic sci-fi short film by Vidyadhar Nani

My Review

Zero is just another short film which will surely create a turning point for many short film makers in India. This will surely make its mark for the attempt of making a futuristic Sci-Fi short film which has been just an imagination for many short film makers. The negatives for this film are the acting, the VFX at a few shots and also the models in a few shots. The characters were differentiated very well with band colours of black and white, but there a few shots in which either they were meant to be a certain character but wearing the wrong band or in a few more have no bands. Props were used well. The best shots were the moon shot for which the team had used a real telescope as mentioned in their blog (Link to their blog is mentioned below).

Overall it was really an attempt worth an appreciation as they took the first step towards the trial which many of the short film makers were hesitating to. Yes, there were technical issues in the making. Can watch and support them for the attempt. The storyline was really good, and many experts fail using the technology to our own regional story-lines, but Vidyadhar is did a good job.

Vaaradhi - A Short film by Koushik Maddali

Vaaradhi - A Short film by Koushik Maddali

My Review

A perfectly apt story for the title Vaaradhi which means bridge. A story about a student named Gaurav who is leaving to USA for a better life and a strange father who is named Vaaradhi. Great acting only 2 characters for the whole short film. Perfect direction by Koushik Maddali, perfect screenplay, best acting by Surya garu in the father's role, good editing, good BGM a complete package. The student character of Gaurav who is none other than the director Koushik himself, I would just like to tell that his acting was also worth commendable and I am sure he felt great to have worked face to face with Surya garu, anyways his acting was also really good compared to many short film actors and also a few in the film industry but just felt may be a little more brush up will make him the best actor as well like Surya garu.

Overall a must watch short film by all my telugu friends, family members and colleagues. Don't miss this. I will be stealing just half a star out of my rating for an unknown reason.

Prema Alias Ishq - A Telugu Romantic Short Film by Somu Chowdary and Rajesh Makena

My Review

A short and comical short film. The story is about a lover boy played by "Rohit Varma" who is trying to learn Hindi and also likes to boast about how he has got a perfect grip over his girl friend played by "Snehasri Dutta". The two friends one who is struggling a lot with his girl friend played by "Pavan Sidhu" and the other friend played by "Gowtham Vama". All the above four are the main characters in the short film and frankly their acting skills were really good. Rohit's acting and his Hindi accent  did bring that comedy that was necessary to make the audience laugh though it was nothing new compared to many in the real world. Snehasri did justice to her role of a girl friend and her Hindi was really nice and neutral. Story which was written by Somu Chowdary is really good. Editing which was done by a duo Madhu and Sampath was also smooth and nice. Cinematography by Rajesh Makena, who had done a great job. I would like to appreciate Somu Chowdary and Vinay for a good screenplay. Finally to talk about the direction this is duo direction short film by Somu Chowdary and Rajesh Makena, both have done a good job to get a good output, but I didn't understand why 2 directors for a 7 minute short film?

Overall a sure to watch comedy short film which will entertain you. Well rating it a bit less as didn't feel that so called WOW factor while watching it. But a sure to watch for entertainment.

Jeevam Telugu Short Film Poster - Directed by Krishna Chaitanya Joshi

My Review

A short film in which different emotions and thoughts of a human were captured, along with which it also shows how life can not give you something, later give you something you least expect and snatch everything away the very next moment. The character "Raj" played by Rahul R, was a person who is weak, unstable but at the same time an everyday guy in the neighbourhood as portrayed in this short film. Directions was good by Krishna Chaitanya Joshi, screenplay was nice, dialogues were good but could have been worked on a little more to make a better impact on audience, cinematography by Trinadh Rakesh was good. Editing by Vikram Varma Bandi was also good, I think the only VFX shot was the end death with the bullet hole to the head, anyways it was just ok but very clear that it was VFX so could have worked a little more on that. Background Score by Srikanth Pendyaala was good. Rahul did a fair job in acting, he was really good in some places but could have been much better in some places.

Overall a can watch film but, I doubt if everyone would like it. I did like the concept, so I would surely recommend to watch atleast once. Rating is a bit less as I felt the overall output could have been much much better than this.

Love A - A Telugu Short Film by Karthikeyan Karra

Love A - A Telugu Short Film by Karthikeyan Karra

My Review

Short, simple and clear message was passed in
this short film with little flavour of comedy. It is
about a conversation between a confused
youngster 'JEEVAN' played by Chaitanya Mantha who
is just going to attempt suicide and an artist
'ARAVIND SWAMY' played by Subbu. The screenplay
was good, the VFX done by the team of CGtrix was
also good enough. Dialogues were also small and
crisp just like the short film but had deep meaning,
except the shots in which the artist was drawing or
writing on the canvas and also the shot where Jeevan
throws the stone down the hill to see how deep the
steep of the hill is, were a little down as it was a
little too clear to say that it was graphics. Good
comedy, great acting by Subbu felt he fitted well as
an artist, just please work on your hairstyle and
Chaitanya was good and also fitted well but the look
of being scared was a little too simple, might have to
work on that one thing. The cinematography work was
really good, great use of crane and camera angles
were also good, except that there wasn't much I
could say about this short film.
